Colonial Life Arena 801 Lincoln Street, Columbia, SC, 29208

Colonial Life Arena has a capacity of about 18,000 seats and it is home to men and women’s basketball teams of University of South Carolina. The official opening game was in December 2002 in which University of South Carolina men’s basketball team won over Temple. The High School Basketball Championships are also held in the venue every year, in addition to ECHL games of ice hockey.

In addition to basketball and all sports events, the venue host different other events including Disney on Ice musical for instance, or American Idols Live!, or Sesame Street and a lot more events. The venue also has hosted concerts of big names including Bruce Springsteen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Eagles, Aerosmith and the list goes long. It was President George W. Bush who is the first inauguration speaker for ceremonies at the arena.

Colonial Life Arena hosted also WWE events for example it hosted a version of Monday Night Raw in 2006. In 2008, WWE returned again to the venue. One of the controversial debates raised about the venue is about NCAA basketball Tournament games including both men and women. When constructed, the arena was planned to host NCAA games, but the NCAA banned South Carolina venues from hosting such events because of the flying Confederate battle flag near a soldiers' memorial.
